It is neiter hysteria, nor trivial or attention-seeking, but a condition that requires support. We explain the background, warning signs, and what you can do if you’re affected—or if your partner, daughter, daughter-in-law, or friend is.
Addiction
Pills, alcohol, nicotine or cocaine. But also: computer gaming, shopping, cleaning. Is this still freedom, or already addiction? Addictions are often a burden for families and can also endanger the health of one’s own children. When is it time to take action?
Losing a Child
Some babies die. During pregnancy. At birth. Shortly afterwards. Or through a late termination of pregnancy. A nightmare. A shock. We often lack words. How can parents cope with an experience like this? What can family members and friends do? Supportive counselling may be beneficial.
